I could define the Meran Merlot Festival Sudtirol Alto Adige DOC a “wannabe”, because I would like to be at the Merano Wine Festival.

Unfortunately I was not able to go to this event, but I have not given up and I brought to the table one of the symbols of this wine area.

Let’s see it together.

With the Meran Merlot Festival Sudtirol Alto Adige DOC we can say that is born the proverb – “If FoodWineBeer does not go Merano Wine festival then the Merano Wine Festival runs from FoodWineBeer” and that’s almost by chance I am at the table this wine.

I must say that I was happy, both because of its characteristics, which dates to the emotional feelings by memories of this city that all products of Kellerei Meran Burggräfler remember me.

Overall the wine is emotion, which I will try to tone down to give an impartial description.

The Merlot Festival Meran Sudtirol Alto Adige DOC I tried in 2011 vintage, has a dark ruby red color with garnet, is still considerable but not too young.

Its aromas are mainly of red fruits, hot, like ripe cherries accompanied by a little bit of alcohol and spices.

This anticipates which kind of drink you can expect.

The first sip of Meran Merlot Festival Sudtirol Alto Adige DOC is warm, velvety enough, continues in the sign of softness but the final few wooden notes makes you understand the robustness of the whole.

A red wine as it should be , that is tasty to drink by myself to enjoy good wine, a thing that I advise you to do more often.

But also by virtue of its high alcohol content (13.5!) and its structure, it is best to bring it to the table with structured dishes of game meat such as venison, or even wild boar, or aged cheese .

Serve at a temperature closer to 20 than to 18 degrees, in nice large glass, this wine is ready to drink as soon as it’s uncorked but after 30 minutes reaches it’s best.
