The scene is as follows: smoking pot with ravioli and porcini mushrooms , smell emanating all around ofcourse. What to do, what wine to choose? Lagrein Cantina Cortaccia , or better say Kellerei Kurtatsch.
Yes, in Italian it’s called Cantina Cortaccia , but I respect the traditions and customs of South Tyrol and then I prefer to use their native language so this wine It’s called Lagrein Kellerei Kurtatsch .
So it was there in the cellar , all alone on the shelf and I understand now that the mushrooms do not want another wine , they want only this Lagrein. Or maybe it’s me…
Then I uncork it and first contact is not perfect , though I understand why : in the cellar it was too cold at least 6 degrees of difference with the ideal temperature.
In fact as soon as it reaches the optimum temperature 18 ° it changes, the alcohol gives way to the smell of grapes , it can be defined vinous.
It is a complex wine , it reveals its 13 degrees of alcool , but although it is velvety on the palate , then becomes full of warmth and leaves an aftertaste almost peppery .
This Lagrein Wine Cantina Cortaccia , sorry, Kellerei Kurtatsch it’s not covering the flavors , but it should be accompanied by strong pasta dishes , meat or cheese. For tonight I do not regret the choice to pair it with ravioli and porcini mushrooms.
