I had in mind another wine, then suddenly I found in my hands the Amarone Della Valpolicella Classico DOC 2008 Bolla , and as I saw that there was grilled meat for dinner I held it tight!
Let’s tell me if the dilemma between a Brunello and Amarone can be considered a problem , but today I went out to drink Tuscany and I found myself in Veneto with the Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOC 2008 Bolla ” Lo Storico ”
Decisive was the vintage, the Brunello’s were all ten-year , while in 2008 this Amarone is pretty nearly the latest bottling .
The grilled meat was ready , but not too challenging as Florentine , it was only chops and steaks.
So they were asking to be paired with a great wine , but not too old , and then Bolla Amarone della Valpolicella Classico 2008 ” Lo Storico ” was perfect.
Let’s talk about him , I had a large cup glass in which pouring it , but not a decanter and then I left it in the glass 15 minutes.
Dark ruby red color , intense and deep that reveal the past 18 months aged in wood ( oak casks and barriques ) .
Perfumes a little of wood and instead there is some fruity notes but not too much because it exceeded the typical smell of raisins , and at the end it comes the pungent spice but also some fresh mint at the same time .
And even in taste, this Amarone occurs initially fruity and turns on quickly with a spicy peppery taste and at the same time tend to fresh mint , returning fruity and warm only in the final also because it is 15.5 degrees in alcoholic content.
The Bolla Amarone della Valpolicella Classico ” Lo storico ” in fact can be defined exuberant and I must say thanks to him because it’s great with grilled meats and also with some braised , good with cheese, but can also accompany lamb without covering it .
